Famiy Chronicles / April 1st - 8th, 2018
Hey
Family . . .

| Jesus Christ visiting the Americas after His resurrection. You can read more about his visit in the Book of Mormon. |
Easter is behind us – what a FUN experience it was to have FAMILY come to visit! This year, we were excited to have Tyler, Monica and Van visit for three days and with their arrival – WIND, lots and lots of WIND! You know, there seems to be some correlation between them visiting and the WIND showing up!!! Van has grown so much and full of life and 1 ½ year-old-antics!!! This house hasn’t seen that much activity in awhile except when Carter comes flying through the door! We had fun visiting “Taco Time”- everyone coming to town has to go there, right and visiting Grandma at Homestead where we found out Grandma Alice actually did remember them especially when Tyler went to “smash” Grandma’s hairdo! She SURE ENJOYED their visit. For those of you in the family that remember “Mrs. Jensen” (Pam Jensen’s mother) at the Jr. High office – she was living at Homestead (same place as Gma – just down the hall) – she passed away Sunday after her surgery went “south”! She was a sweet lady and only 78 years old – almost 20 years younger than Grandma!

Saturday and Sunday was filled with watching General Conference on TV, cooking goodies for our Easter celebration and just hanging out – yes we actually “sat around” and just talked, laughed and played with Van! Van does “sign language” for things he needs or wants – pretty cute to watch and educational as well.
General
Conference, for all those who watched, recognized how historic an event it was
– putting it mildly!
- · We have a new prophet as President Monson passed away / President Russell M. Nelson is at the “helm” now.

| President Nelson teared up when he was being sustained! Such a sweet man. He is a world-renowned heart surgeon. |
- Usually at Conference, they will announce 1 or 2 new temples being constructed – this time they announced “7” to be built all over the world and my guess is there will be many more!
- The Home Teaching and Visiting Teaching programs were “retired”
- Two new apostles were put into place to replace two who passed away
Things
at the temple are going well – almost 4 months down / 6 months left ! ! ! We’re having a fun time with our calling now
that the “newness” has worn off – it was pretty scary at first but now . . .
we’re having fun but still a challenge every week!
We’ve
had some dry days around here from time to time and you can guess where dad is
– out golfing. Tomorrow is going to be
sunny and dry (after 3 days of rain) and he’ll be out of here first thing in
the morning! This is the FIRST year in
almost 50 years that he didn’t play racquetball all winter – I think his body
just isn’t up for it any more. He
mentioned (and named) many of his friends who played racquetball over the years
that had to have knee replacements – and it’s almost everyone of them!!! (Note:
TAKE CARE of your body – there is NO warranty!)
NO
OFFERS on the house yet! (sad
emoji) We dropped the price $2,000
Friday / as suggested by the realtor AND will probably go down further in a
month. The split entry just isn’t
appealing to many and the bedrooms are super-small! I’ve made a goal to get the place cleared out
by the end of May (sell or no sell) of her personal items and clear the garage
out – probably leaving the furniture in until we have an offer?
Speaking
of Grandma – she’s fighting another bout of pneumonia\ doc gave her a Z-pack
this time and her legs are recovering from a pretty bad case of swelling and
blistering! The body does some pretty
weird things sometimes. There have been
2 people on her floor that have passed away and one of our OLD NEIGHBORS that
originally built/lived in “Chang’s” old house:
Deloy McKenna. His wife is now
left alone living there with severe dementia and needs a care-giver. I’m telling you, if you think you have
PROBLEMS, go visit a assisted living center OR nursing home – you’ll feel
better immediately!!! Grandma is “tired”
of being here on earth AND would LOVE to leave and be with Grandpa. She says Grandpa stands in the corner of her
room from time to time – he never speaks, just stands! I’m sure he’s thinking/saying, “STOP taking
such good care of her!”
BTW
family, I haven’t noticed any “snail mail” on grandma’s night stand – how she would
LOVE to hear from your family and see some pictures! IF, you want to email me a letter, I’d be
happy to print it off and take it over for her to read! It’s a pretty lonely life over there even
though she has activities – there’s nothing like family! When we took her down for dinner tonight, she
just held onto my hand and didn’t want us to leave :0( !
We’ve
had some wild weather here with the rain.
Yesterday we had a TORNADO WARNING as a storm barreled through Idaho
Falls with weird cloud formations and high winds – they tracked it on live TV
for a long time then finally the warning expired and no one was hurt.
We rushed home from Grandma’s to put the truck in the garage so it wouldn’t get attacked by hail. The hail damage in Idaho Falls was “impressive”! Dad had to go over to Gma’s house and divert water as all water running down Millhollow seemed to find it’s way to her front lawn/driveway. He came home a soggy mess but “saved the day”!

Well,
I think that about wraps it up for this week.
I’ve thought about each of you and your familes this week – you’ll find
yourself doing the same thing as your family gets older and they start leaving
the “nest”! It will be coming BEFORE YOU
KNOW IT!
We sure LOVE each and everyone of you dearly and think about you every-single-day. You're in our prayers daily and many times on the pray-roll at the temple (special)! Have a wonderful week and be sure to THANK your Father in Heaven for the blessings you receive each and every day - we are a blessed family!
Love, Mom

LETTER FROM DAD:
April 6 Dear Family -
This is the date the church was organized. We had an amazing church conference and had the privilege of having Tyler, Monica and cutie Van visit us. Ty was so inspired he went on line and found a sweet convertible that he bought. He can send you pics if you wish to see it.
Our weather has not made up its mind weather it is spring or something else. We still find a way to play golf in between storms. Friday I shot low score 41 that is good for me. Sure enjoy breathing fresh air and being outside. I think it is like fishing it doesn’t matter if you catch any if you have fun and enjoy nature.
We really enjoy going to the show. We saw “I can only imagine” the other day and I really liked it. I even stayed awake through the entire show. Today I went to the college and swam 50 laps but I am slow and need to rest a bit. Not like the old days but oh well it keeps the shoulders in shape.
Yesterday we got some heavy rain and I had to go to Grandma’s house and help it not flood. All the street water was heading at her house and causing problems. We still go visit her each night and make sure she is ok. Mom writes up an entire page of things to do each day and when to do it. She has multiple problems that need to be dealt with. Her legs are bad and have sores on them that look sick. She also has pneumonia again but it seems to be getting better. Her memory is very bad and it is hard to put credence on things she tells us and we are careful about what we ask her.
Her house is still for sale with no offers. I think we will need to lower the price till it sells. Well I want to leave you with this thought: Life is very short and the older we get the faster it goes. We need to be happy and enjoy life and be kind to all because soon we will be joining our family on the other side of the veil. We also must live good lives and repent and keep all the commandments.

Thanks for writing the blog! If you want to get more readers, you can write more about me as I am sure everyone is excited to learn more. I would lower the price a bit on gmas house but not a lot. You are going into the selling season and more buyers will be out in the market soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming by Ca-Man! You're hilarious AND thanks for in "wisdom" on Gma's house! Love you!
